Your school may use either Colourful Semantics or Language Through Colour to support children in structuring their language in a very clear, visual way. We can offer training to enable you to use these strategies easily and apply the principles to any given classroom activity.
The videos will guide you through the colour system, as well as give you lots of practical ideas on how to use Colourful Semantics to support reading comprehension, vocabulary development, sentence structure, narrative skills and much more. The training presentation includes loads of great video clips of Colourful Semantics in use, so you can see how easily transferable the skills are to the classroom. Tips are given on how Colourful Semantics can be easily incorporated to support curriculum learning as a fun, class approach that promotes independence and stretches even the most able children.
Colour coding helps show children where each word goes in the sentence. The colours help children to learn what each word means and how they fit together in the sentence. Using colour coding helps children understand ‘wh’ questions like who, what, and why, and it can help children who miss out words like ‘is’ and ‘the’ in a sentence.
Make sure you are watching the correct video for the system your school has chosen to use. Either Colourful Semantics or Language Through Colour.
